Enrique Iglesias Brings 'Dirty Dancer' To 'American Idol'

On the same day he announced cities and dates for his fall arena tour,Enrique Iglesias took to the "American Idol" stage Thursday (May 12) to perform his new single, "Dirty Dancer," along with a rendition of his smash hit "I Like It," both from his 2010 album Euphoria.
Iglesias opened the performance with "Dirty Dancer" under a single spotlight, but soon the stage was lit with multiple spots and a bevy of lasers. Iglesias — dressed in blue jeans and a black leather jacket, his hair artfully disheveled — was backed by a video-screened Usher, who performed on the large wall behind him, as well as a full band and a team of backup singers. "She's a dirty, dirty dancer/ Dirty, dirty dancer/ Never ever lonely," Iglesias sang, telling the cautionary tale of a comely-yet-dangerous female (isn't that always the case?).

After a verse and a chorus, Iglesias switched gears and dove into "I Like It," his blockbuster single, which hit #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 last year. Fans flooded the "Idol" stage and jumped in unison, as Iglesias — who turned 36 earlier this week — high-fived them and bounced along. Balloons dropped from the ceiling, lending the song an even more celebratory, New Year's Eve-type feel. Iglesias waded into the throng of fans and urged them to wave their hands from side to side and let some of them fill in for him on vocal duties. As he made his way out of the group of fans, he popped a balloon with his microphone.
At the close of his performance, Iglesias — who made headlines in March when he dropped off Britney Spears' summer tour — gave props to the "Idol" enterprise. "You're amazing, 'American Idol'!" he said, as he was embraced by fans at the foot of the stage.

Caught in the Act!

She's usually the one performing, but Britney Spearstook a break from her Femme Fatale tour for some entertainment with beau Jason Trawick and her boys, Prestonand Jayden. The pop star caughtdance crew Jabbawockeez's show MUS.I.C. at Las Vegas's Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Laughing and cheering with the rest of the audience, Spears seemed to thoroughly enjoy the show and even bounced in her seat to Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." On her way out, the pop star also scored some goodie bags.

Campaign to ban Shakira from entering Egypt after visit to Israel

A group of Egyptians have launched a campaign over the internet calling to prevent famous Lebanese/Columbian singer Shakira from entering Egypt, and cancel her scheduled concert in Cairo in the month of November, in response to her recent visit to Israel a week ago.

Many people denounced Shakira's visit to the Israel, and visiting Israeli children in a school in Jerusalem rather than visiting Palestinian children who are suffering from the Israeli occupation.

Shakira was also reprimanded for her visit due to the fact that she is half Lebanese, and there is strong hostility between Lebanon and Israel. The page that was created for the campaign stated that the attack is not on Shakira as a person, but its due to their strong rejection of normalization with Israel in any form or shape.

Members who created the page stated that a concert by Shakira will not add anything to Egypt, and her not holding a performance will mean so much more.

Organizers of the campaign resented Shakira’s acceptance of the invitation from President of Israel Shimon Peres, and her remarks of opening a new page with the Israelis, and expressed their shock at the actions of Shakira, demanding that she banned from entering Egypt permanently.

Shakira visited Israel with her boyfriend, Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique, and spent the night in a hotel in Jerusalem. During her visit, Shakira attended a Presidential Conference, after Israeli President had invited her to attend the opening of this conference.

One of the Egyptian telecommunications companies announced the purchase of Shakira’s concert; which is scheduled to take place in Egypt in November, for 2.5 million US dollars.

Rihanna looks downbeat as she leaves BET afterparty following embarrassing Chris Brown award mix-up

After embarrassingly being named the winner of an award which actually belonged to her ex-Chris Brown last night, you wouldn't blame Rihanna skipping BET Awards celebrations all together.

But instead the 23-year-old Bajan singer dusted herself off and glammed herself up for the festivities in Los Angeles.

She did however look not too pleased as she left the bash in her sexy slinky satin gown.

Flanked by burly bodyguards, the singer could barely raise a smile as she made her way out of the party.

Rihanna accentuated her glamorous look with her fiery red hair coiffed in sophisticated waves and matched the tresses with Scarlett lipstick.

She accessorised with gold spiky necklace and carried a snakeskin clutch.

Rihanna was a no show at the awards ceremony, which she was expected to attend, but it was probably a good thing.

In the mother of all gaffs, television personality Tiffany Greene mistakenly announced Rihanna as the winner of the Viewer's Choice award, not her ex-Brown, who was the actual recipient.

While the drama unfolded, Rihanna was pictured at Los Angeles LAX Airport while Brown collected several honours at the event.

The farce started when Greene, along with 106 & Park hosts Terrence J. and Rocsi took to the stage to present the Viewer's Choice Award.

Greene look confused as she proclaimed the winner to be Chris Brown for his song Look At Me Now.

But then Terrence quickly stepped in an said: 'I'm sorry, it's Rihanna for What's My Name... this is awkward.'

Rapper Drake, who collaborated on the track with Rihanna, then came to the stage to accept the award.

He said: 'This is awkward,' before making a short acceptance speech and leaving the stage.

However around 30 minutes later, at the end of the show, the main host Kevin Hart clarified the matter by saying Chris Brown was in fact the winner.

Brown, who performed several times at the ceremony, was also on stage and was seen laughing and goofing around on a bike as Hart made the announcement.

Brown won a pair of prizes earlier in the show too.

The 21-year-old singer was named best male R&B artist and won best collaboration for his song Look At Me Now with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.

Brown accepted the collaboration award after performing a medley that including the winning track.

'Public-speaking is not my strong suit,' he said, thanking BET and his fans before passing the microphone to Wayne, who expressed gratitude to Brown for including him on the track. Busta Rhymes rapped his acceptance.

Earlier in the ceremony, Brown also thanked his fans and the network: 'I appreciate all the support. I know it's been a long road, so I appreciate every blessing in front of me.'

Brown was of course referring to a difficult couple of years after he admitted to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the Grammy Awards back in 2009.

Both Rihanna and Brown have been making contact recently on social networking site Twitter, prompting speculation about their relationship status.

It is unknown whether or not they caught up inside the party last night

Beyoncé goes for timeless over timely on her latest album, '4'

It's been a while since "Single Ladies" ruled the world. And neither of the first two singles off this album - "Run the World (Girls)," "Best Thing I Never Had" - have commanded the sort of attention Britney Spears and Lady Gaga enjoyed when their first singles hit the streets from "Femme Fatale" and "Born This Way" respectively.

• Top 10 Beyoncé singles | New CD releases
The bad news is, there's not much here that feels like it could put Beyoncé back on top, where she belongs. There's no "Crazy in Love," no "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" - although that's clearly what she's gunning for on "Run the World (Girls)" - and certainly no shameless bid to keep up with the Ke$has of the world.
It couldn't feel more out of step, in fact, with current trends in R&B or big dumb pop of the Ke$ha variety, as though she honestly bought into Jay-Z's "Death of Auto-Tune."
The good news is, it's timeless that way, overstuffed with soulful ballads. There's even a ballad called "Party" (which features guest appearances from Kanye West and André 3000 with harmonies silky enough to give some listeners flashbacks to the '70s).
In a pop scene that's hell-bent on keeping it frivolous, Beyoncé brings the drama, setting the tone with the slow-rolling gravity of "1 + 1," where she pleads for someone - we're assuming Jay-Z - to make love to her. Not for the sexual healing so much as the sexual therapy, whether the world is through, like it is in the opening verse, or just at war (see second verse).
There's more frivolity, in fact, on U2's latest record.
But Beyoncé sells that drama, investing her vocals with a sense that everything is hanging in the balance, whether the love of her life is still around to hear her plead, "Make love to me" or, in most cases, long gone, leaving her alone to pour her heart out in moments as wounded as "I'm crying and deserted, baby, but you don't care" (on "I Care," a song whose vocals venture into the Mariah zone) or "I thought that things like this get better with time/But I still need you/Why is that?" Even when she finds the inner strength to mock the fool who got away ("Best That I Never Had"), her heart sounds just as broken as she rubs his nose in it.
This is serious business, grown-up soul that may be best enjoyed by an audience old enough to understand why anyone would see the romance in a line as sad as "Nothing's perfect, but it's worth it."

Lady Gaga spokesman denies Japan fraud: reports

By Lisa Twaronite
TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- A spokesman for Lady Gaga has denied that the pop singer misrepresented charitable donations from the sale of wristbands intended for Japan's disaster relief, and called a lawsuit "misguided" for alleging this, according to reports Tuesday. "The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements," the spokesman was quoted as saying. A suit, which requests status as a class action, was filed last week by 1-800-Law-Firm firm partner Alyson Oliver in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, alleging the singer and her companies added excess shipping charges and retained a portion of the proceeds from each transaction instead of donating all proceeds to Japanese disaster relief

Justin Bieber: Selena Gomez Crushed On Shia LaBeouf Who Now Disses JB

Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson were recently dissed by Transformers franchise star Shia LaBeouf. Almost everybody knows that by now. But what many people have forgotten or perhaps never knew is that the Teen Dream's lady-love, Selena Gomez, used to have a huge crush on the loose-lipped Mr. LaBeouf. And she was never shy about making her crush known to the world.

"I don't have a perfect boy," she once gushed in an interview. "I guess they need to be honest and they need to be someone who I can really be myself around. Although, if they look identical to Shia LaBeouf that would be great!"

"If they look identical to Shia LaBeouf, that would be great?" Yuck. In her pre-Biebs days, Selena Gomez had either really bizarre taste in men or extremely bad eyesight.

Anyway, the inevitable question now is, what does Selena think about her old crush, Shia's lame remarks about her current love JB? In an interview in the Italian magazine,Un'Intervista, LaBeouf opined that "it's hard for stars like Justin Bieber not to develop a huge ego because of their level of fame."

"I would not want the worldwide popularity of Robert Pattinson or Justin Bieber," La Beouf lied--er--revealed. "Even if you don't reach those levels, it's hard not to feel at least a little almighty."

If, by now, Shia LeBeouf hasn't ascended to "those levels" of "worldwide popularity" already reached by Bieber and Pattinson, he can relax. It's doubtful that he'll ever have a future as a worldwide heart-throb. Even if he was, back in the day, a crush object for Justin Bieber's girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

And speaking of Selena Gomez, one word: awkward.

Wonder what Kristen Stewart thinks of Shia LeBeouf.

Rihanna Takes Another Stage Tumble on Tour (watch!)

Rihanna is paying a price for wearing sky-high heels on stage. She stumbled and tripped again during a show in Edmonton, Canada. But ever the trouper, she kept right on singing as she picked herself up.

The 23-year-old singer was walking across the stage in stiletto boots and suddenly slammed down on her hands and knees in the middle of a song.

She paused for a moment, stood up on her knees and started singing again, without missing a word.

As she got up, she made a gesture to her back up dancers, suggesting an "Oh well," and continued with the tune.

She was wearing extra-short shorts and a scarf top, but everything managed to stay in place.

She's had similar mishaps at a concert in London, so by now she's a pro at the stumble-and-recover move. Maybe she'll work it into her act.

As female stars opt for more and more outlandish costumes on tour, especially shoes with five-inch heels and sometimes, three-inch platforms, the accidents are mounting up.

Lady Gaga is famous for taking on-stage tumbles because of her over-the-top footwear.

In any event, Rihanna has more to worry about on her Loud Tour.

Cee Lo Green, who had been opening for her, suddenly dropped out of the tour after drawing criticism for his performance.

His rep cited work overload for the decision.

"He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to "The Voice," on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve," the rep told The New York Times.

Akon Calls Nick Cannon 'Famous' Collabo 'Overdue'

Akon's year in music may seem like it's off to a slow start, but expect the Senegalese-American artist's name to be back to music-industry ubiquity shortly.
MTV News recently caught up with the singer/producer/executive on the set of Nick Cannon's video for "Famous," where Akon told us linking up with the actor/rapper (who's expecting twins with wife Mariah Carey) was opportune.

"I listened to ['Famous'] and I actually liked it," Akon said. "He does a lot of family-friendly stuff and I'm trying to go into that realm right now. I want to do a lot more family-friendly stuff, and Nick is the best at that. I feel like this was a collaboration way overdue."
On the set, Akon was friendly as always but didn't divulge any new details about his upcoming album, Stadium, which he hopes to release in September. Last year, the "Sexy Chick" singer revealed to MTV News that producer David Guetta had contributed to the project. For now, Akon plans to go on mini-tours and release new music just to whet the appetites of his fans. But he still isn't sure which song he'll drop first.
"I don't know what to release first," he said. "I'm so excited about the project itself, I'm like, 'OK, which record do I want to put out first?' I haven't quite decided but by the end of April I'll know exactly what I'mma do with the record."
'Kon was more assured in his reverence for Dr. Dre. Last year's "Kush," the official lead single from Dre's long-awaited Detox album, featured a vocal from Akon. "Dre is one of those guys ... he's a perfectionist in his own [right]," Akon said.
"You feel confident working with him because he's not going to let nothing go undone. In a way, that's great. But sometimes you're anxious too, like, 'Man I can't wait to let everybody hear this.' Ultimately, working with Dre was just amazing. Dre is very picky about who he decides to work with too. For him to call me and do [multiple] tracks on the record and be involved in more than one record on that album, it said a lot. It shows how much he really appreciated what I'm doing."

Shakira Separates From Boyfriend Of 11 Years

With Valentine's Day a little more than a month away, the list of celebrity splits keeps on growing.
In a post on her blog, Shakira announced on Monday that she and her boyfriend of nearly 11 years, Antonio de la Rúa, are taking a break. While rumors of wedding bells have emerged about the couple in the past, the singer confirmed they have been separated since last August but chose to keep the news under wraps.
"We made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship," Shakira wrote in her post. "Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now."
The announcement comes fresh on the heels of other long-term celebrity couples calling it quits, including Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who separated last year after 11 years of marriage, and Mila Kunis and Macaulay Culkin, who ended their nine-year relationship earlier this month.
Shakira added that she and de la Rúa, who is a lawyer and the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rúa, "view this period of separation as temporary," explaining that they would continue to work together.
"Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done," she said. "We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication."
The singer also noted that the two are an "exceptional couple and partners," and stressed that the separation was amicable. "Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible," she said.

Ke$ha gets moody in new comedy sketch

Pop singer Ke$ha reveals how she got the dollar sign in her name in a hilarious new spoof video. "I used to be called Kesha, with an 's' instead of a dollar sign," she says with a frown. "Then one year I had my birthday party at Shakey's Pizza…I'm sorry, it's hard for me to talk about this…" she adds breaking into mock tears. "On the big sign where they write happy birthday they replaced the 's' with a dollar sign…it ruined my life. I wanted to be a CPA but you know who H&R doesn't hire? People with dollar signs in their names. I pretty much had to become a pop star," she adds scowling. The Right Round singer, 23, went on to complain about the negative effect the name change had on her life. "Souvenir shops never have key chains with my name on it, people think I cost 'ha' dollars and I have to press shift twice when typing my name, all because of a f**cking pizza place," she moaned. The comedy video, by Funny or Die, also noted that Ke$ha had "brought record profits to the glitter and whiskey industry".

Eminem Takes His Own Life In 'Space Bound' Video

Just when we thought Eminem had fully escaped his demons following the release of his multiplatinum 2010 album Recovery, Marshall Mathers takes his own life with a single gunshot to the head in his new "Space Bound" video, which is now available on iTunes.
The video is a gut-wrenching look into another of Eminem's tumultuous relationships, much like the one exhibited in the video for "Love the Way You Lie" — this time with deadly results.
Filmed in Los Angeles in February, the Joseph Kahn-directed clip starts with our leading man walking down a foggy road in the middle of the night. Obviously perturbed, a sullen Em marches on, hands in his pockets, until a passing car picks him up. In the driver's seat is the Detroit rapper's love interest, played by porn star Sasha Grey. Things clearly aren't all peaches and cream.
Eminem jumps in the front passenger seat, with a pensive look on his face, while another, more cynical version of Em rides in the back. The differences between the two Shadys are apparent. The front-seat version is calm, with his eyes darting back and forth between his girlfriend and the gun that sits in the glove compartment. The other Em is riled up, hurling insults at Grey, though she is unaware of his presence.
As the couple pulls up to a pit stop, Grey exits the vehicle first with a gun in her back pocket, while Em follows her. They enter a diner, Grey first and the rapper a few steps behind. Here, the director splits the screen and the two Eminems go their separate ways, one to the counter and the other to the booth where his girlfriend sits, texting on her cell phone.
Eminem grows suspicious of the texts and checks his girl's phone after she gets up to go to the bathroom. The rapper apparently finds what he has long suspected: His woman is cheating.
Throughout the video, Eminem follows Grey like a lost puppy. It's when they check into a motel room that the drama unfolds. Closing the door behind him, Eminem begins to attack his girlfriend before realizing that she wasn't even there in the first place. Left at the end of his rope, Eminem pulls out the gun, puts it to his chin and fires a single shot through his own head. Blood splatters, and Shady falls to the floor.
Simultaneously, the alternate Eminem, who is still seated at the counter, is struck by the bullet as well, falling back off of his bar stool before the clip rewinds back to the beginning of the 4:30 video, where we once again see our leading man walking down that foggy road in the middle of the night.
Did Eminem imagine the entire ordeal? Or did his cheating girlfriend metaphorically kill the hopeless romantic, leaving only a distrustful version of himself? The image is jarring; the interpretation, however, is up to you.

Britney Spears Was 'Super Game' For 'I Wanna Go' Video

Britney Spears looks like she's having a blast in her new "I Wanna Go" video. It's full of fun pop-culture references and has Brit seeking vengeance against the paparazzi. Now, the director of the kitschy clip, Chris Marrs Piliero, has opened up about working with the pop megastar.

"Meeting Britney for the first time was really rad. She was really cool. I don't think anyone has the right to be a diva, but there are some artists out there, they've been in the game long enough [that] if any one of those artists ... might have the permission to be a diva, she definitely has earned it — and she wasn't whatsoever," he told the MTV Buzzworthy blog.
So what's Spears like? "She's super polite; she's ridiculously polite. She's soft-spoken," he said. "She's really cute. The way she talks and interacts, you want to hug her. She was super professional, super game. ... It was rad. It was awesome working with her. She's a rad chick."
Another highlight of the shoot for Piliero was working with "Weeds" star Guillermo Diaz on one of the final scenes. In the last part of the video, Spears and the actor are riding in a convertible in the desert as Brit dances around. Diaz displays his comedic chops by doing things like pouring milk all over himself.
"It was definitely a funny moment of the shoot. We let the cameras roll, and the reaction that you see from Britney is definitely a genuine reaction," the director recalled. "When I was going through the footage, I loved the way that she responded. It's so genuine and so funny. It's perfect [and] it definitely is a perfect description of how we all felt about that scene."

Anna Kournikova in a Bikini, While Enrique Iglesias Avoids Naked Waterskiing!

Anna Kournikova slipped into a bikini for an afternoon of boating in Miami with her boyfriend Enrique Iglesias yesterday. The singer's water sporting habits have been in the news lately since he made a promise that he would water ski naked if Spain won the World Cup. He's apparently still figuring out the logistics of exactly where and when it will go down, but he says it will definitely be a nighttime adventure. Enrique also has something else to celebrate this week, since Jersey Shore is coming back and the new season features a track he wrote just for the hit show. Meanwhile, Anna's a few weeks too late to make it into this year's celebrity swimsuit body bracket, but now's the time to vote on the final two — so who's the champion going to be, Jennifer Aniston or Brooklyn Decker?
