Last night at the BET Awards, some lucky fans were chosen to present the viewer's choice award. Some serious awkwardness transpired. Not only did the wrong person get it, the celebrities involved happened to be Chris Brown and Rihanna, with Drake thrown in no less. Brown owned the BET Awards, taking home four big honors, one of which being the viewer's choice award. But it wasn't given to him initially ...
The lucky fan read the winner as "Chris Brown," only to recant it and say, "I'm sorry, the winner is Rihanna." The audience grumbled. THEN, despite the fact that Rihanna's name appeared on screen one of the presenters chimed in again to award the honor to ... Drake. Drake then appeared on stage to collect his trophy, giving a short speech and describing the whole thing as awkward. To say the least. Presumably, at some point later, Brown was credited with the actual award ... but not before the entire process was thoroughly discredited.
While Eminem's "A Kiss" is sure to get people talking, Shakira's "Rabiosa" will leave tongues wagging. A great many of them, we're guessing. Shakira is known for her sexy hip-shaking, but she really ups the ante with this effort, channeling her inner pole-dancer and gyrating away! The 34-year-old Colombian singer smolders as a blonde and dons a new look - a brunette bob - in the new video, which features Pitbull. "Rabiosa" is the third single from her album, Sale El Sol. Watch/drool below:
Despite a drenching down pour, the singer surprised early arrivals at the Glastonbury festival on Thursday night with an unscheduled show before the festival even officially opened!
She then took to Twitter to share her excitement to be performing at the iconic UK music festival, tweeting:
"Umm. Today was epic!!!!I played the dance tent for the glasto thursday partiers…"
"tomorrow!!Dance tent!! again!! I've been fucking waiting my whole life for the chance to play glastonbury!!"
"My throat was bleeding.there's nothing more worth my blood than my fans. Ill scream till I bleed all summer long for u guys"
Ke$ha will OFFICIALLY kick off the festival on Friday night and we're so sad we're missing it because it sounds like she is showing ticket holders a good time!
Good luck tonight, gurl! Try not to flood those pipes with too much internal bleeding! LOLz!
Filming yourself choking a porn star and then committing suicide is sure to upset a few folks. But a British group known as Mothers Against Violence has taken criticism of Eminem to a new level. In a recent statement, the organization bashes the heck out of the rapper for his "Space Bound" music video (below), referring to the star as "evil."
"People who do this are really quite evil," the group says. "Children are influenced by the things they see. If we feed violence, it becomes strong. Like an addiction. It's all about the money with these videos. Eminem isn't thinking about the families affected. It's selfish - it comes to a point when selfishness becomes evil."
Great Britain, Britney Spears is set to give you more. The singer announced new tour dates in England this week, as she takes her latest tour across the ocean in the fall.
He certainly is cover-worthy! Enrique Iglesias looks all hot on the cover of the new issue of Siempre Hombre.
With his recent attack on the music chart with hit after hit, it’s certain that he’s getting offers left and right for mag covers and more.
He’s been called many things, and this time he gets the title of ‘El Rey Del Cachondeo’. So right on! Siempre Hombre is part of Siempre Mujer magazine and the edition only comes once a year as a flip cover for the regular mag. Even more of an honor!
Lady Gaga is going where few pop stars have gone before: The judges’ panel of So You Think You Can Dance.
Nigel Lythgoe, creator and head pundit on FOX annual summer reality series, has tappedthe “Born This Way” singer to deliver commentary and constructive criticism (with a side of quirky fashion sense) on an episode of the talent show airing later this season. Gaga joins Broadway’s Kristin Chenoweth and Carmen Electra as SYTYCD’s latest celebrity contributor — a new stars appears each week in the final round of the hit dancing competition.
Mark your calendars, Little Monsters: We all remember what happened the latest time your Mother Monster shared her expertise with talent show hopefuls:
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have reportedly been spotted lavishing the L-word on each other. The teenage couple were apparently overheard declaring their love for each other during a shopping trip to New York earlier this week. An onlooker in Armani Exchange told PopEater, "Justin and Selena were holding hands as they shopped and said 'I love you' to each other not once, but several times in public. Everyone could hear them. "I guess they want to share their love with the world... Justin's bodyguard wouldn't let anyone get too close to them, but that didn't stop them from showing off their affection for each other. They were just in their own world... dazed and in love." The romance between the pair is said to have got even more serious when Selena, 18, met Bieber's family earlier this month.
Beyonce Knowles can sing up a treat, dance like a woman with three hips and five speeds, act perfectly well, co-write songs and run a business that turns over millions. At a pinch she can probably rewire your house and de-flea your dog.
However, what she doesn't have is a sense of humour. Not a skerrick. Does that matter? Last time I looked Weird Al Yankovic was still uglier, poorer and not squiring a fellow mogul like Jay-Z.
Yes, it does matter. Not because she needs to be making jokes or cracking wise but because it would, maybe, stop her taking herself quite so seriously. It might, possibly, remind her of her strengths and weaknesses and exactly why people have bought her records.

Beyonce's latest album dishes up heavy-handed and predictable songs.
But I doubt it, because Knowles's previous three albums have all suffered from the same issue that begins with the fact that she is not an album artist. Each one has had a handful of cracking pop/R&B singles packaged with pedestrian ballads, corporate filler and an overall attitude that you might call, to borrow a line from her fellow Texan, Governor Rick Perry, a shade of American exceptionalism.
That would explain why for the first third of this album and several times afterwards Knowles goes again and again to the well of what she no doubt thinks of as deep and meaningful, though in reality they are heavy-handed and predictable songs of indomitable spirit, empowerment and trouble-conquering. She sees herself as a soul singer in a line from Aretha to Mary J. Blige.
While she has a big voice, she is too deliberate to bring real heart to a slow waltz such as I Was Here. Even when a song such as I Miss You, which has little more than a bare electronic pulse, gives her the chance to let the song be felt, she pushes it.
Too deliberate ... Beyonce Knowles performs at the Glastonbury Festival on June 26. Photo: Getty Images
Where Knowles then strikes trouble is that the bold and brassy side of her, which produced Single Ladies and Deja Vu, is not firing on all cylinders. Party, which features Andre 3000 of Outkast, never kicks off while End of Time feels stiff-legged for Caribbean-influenced dance music. The best of them, Countdown, throws together brass band, stuttering steps, brief splashes of dancehall and electronica and celebrates its near oddness, but you can't help wondering, what if it had been really odd and boldly different, maybe even funny?
Even less successful is the song presumably intended to fill the ''girl power via hip-shaking dance clip'' Single Ladies hole. Run the World (Girls) borrows from the Timbaland/Missy Elliott bag of tricks of weird sounds, cross-current beats and spiky vocals. The effort is there but unlike Missy at her peak, it never sticks fast. Much like the album, really.
On the same day he announced cities and dates for his fall arena tour,Enrique Iglesias took to the "American Idol" stage Thursday (May 12) to perform his new single, "Dirty Dancer," along with a rendition of his smash hit "I Like It," both from his 2010 album Euphoria.
Iglesias opened the performance with "Dirty Dancer" under a single spotlight, but soon the stage was lit with multiple spots and a bevy of lasers. Iglesias — dressed in blue jeans and a black leather jacket, his hair artfully disheveled — was backed by a video-screened Usher, who performed on the large wall behind him, as well as a full band and a team of backup singers. "She's a dirty, dirty dancer/ Dirty, dirty dancer/ Never ever lonely," Iglesias sang, telling the cautionary tale of a comely-yet-dangerous female (isn't that always the case?).
After a verse and a chorus, Iglesias switched gears and dove into "I Like It," his blockbuster single, which hit #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 last year. Fans flooded the "Idol" stage and jumped in unison, as Iglesias — who turned 36 earlier this week — high-fived them and bounced along. Balloons dropped from the ceiling, lending the song an even more celebratory, New Year's Eve-type feel. Iglesias waded into the throng of fans and urged them to wave their hands from side to side and let some of them fill in for him on vocal duties. As he made his way out of the group of fans, he popped a balloon with his microphone.
At the close of his performance, Iglesias — who made headlines in March when he dropped off Britney Spears' summer tour — gave props to the "Idol" enterprise. "You're amazing, 'American Idol'!" he said, as he was embraced by fans at the foot of the stage. What did you think of Enrique Iglesias' performance? Let us know in the comments! She's usually the one performing, but Britney Spearstook a break from her Femme Fatale tour for some entertainment with beau Jason Trawick and her boys, Prestonand Jayden. The pop star caughtdance crew Jabbawockeez's show MUS.I.C. at Las Vegas's Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Laughing and cheering with the rest of the audience, Spears seemed to thoroughly enjoy the show and even bounced in her seat to Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." On her way out, the pop star also scored some goodie bags.
A group of Egyptians have launched a campaign over the internet calling to prevent famous Lebanese/Columbian singer Shakira from entering Egypt, and cancel her scheduled concert in Cairo in the month of November, in response to her recent visit to Israel a week ago.
Many people denounced Shakira's visit to the Israel, and visiting Israeli children in a school in Jerusalem rather than visiting Palestinian children who are suffering from the Israeli occupation.
Shakira was also reprimanded for her visit due to the fact that she is half Lebanese, and there is strong hostility between Lebanon and Israel. The page that was created for the campaign stated that the attack is not on Shakira as a person, but its due to their strong rejection of normalization with Israel in any form or shape.
Members who created the page stated that a concert by Shakira will not add anything to Egypt, and her not holding a performance will mean so much more.
Organizers of the campaign resented Shakira’s acceptance of the invitation from President of Israel Shimon Peres, and her remarks of opening a new page with the Israelis, and expressed their shock at the actions of Shakira, demanding that she banned from entering Egypt permanently.
Shakira visited Israel with her boyfriend, Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique, and spent the night in a hotel in Jerusalem. During her visit, Shakira attended a Presidential Conference, after Israeli President had invited her to attend the opening of this conference.
One of the Egyptian telecommunications companies announced the purchase of Shakira’s concert; which is scheduled to take place in Egypt in November, for 2.5 million US dollars.
After embarrassingly being named the winner of an award which actually belonged to her ex-Chris Brown last night, you wouldn't blame Rihanna skipping BET Awards celebrations all together.
But instead the 23-year-old Bajan singer dusted herself off and glammed herself up for the festivities in Los Angeles.
She did however look not too pleased as she left the bash in her sexy slinky satin gown.
Flanked by burly bodyguards, the singer could barely raise a smile as she made her way out of the party.
Rihanna accentuated her glamorous look with her fiery red hair coiffed in sophisticated waves and matched the tresses with Scarlett lipstick.
She accessorised with gold spiky necklace and carried a snakeskin clutch.
Rihanna was a no show at the awards ceremony, which she was expected to attend, but it was probably a good thing.
In the mother of all gaffs, television personality Tiffany Greene mistakenly announced Rihanna as the winner of the Viewer's Choice award, not her ex-Brown, who was the actual recipient.
While the drama unfolded, Rihanna was pictured at Los Angeles LAX Airport while Brown collected several honours at the event.
The farce started when Greene, along with 106 & Park hosts Terrence J. and Rocsi took to the stage to present the Viewer's Choice Award.
Greene look confused as she proclaimed the winner to be Chris Brown for his song Look At Me Now.
But then Terrence quickly stepped in an said: 'I'm sorry, it's Rihanna for What's My Name... this is awkward.'
Rapper Drake, who collaborated on the track with Rihanna, then came to the stage to accept the award.
He said: 'This is awkward,' before making a short acceptance speech and leaving the stage.
However around 30 minutes later, at the end of the show, the main host Kevin Hart clarified the matter by saying Chris Brown was in fact the winner.
Brown, who performed several times at the ceremony, was also on stage and was seen laughing and goofing around on a bike as Hart made the announcement.
Brown won a pair of prizes earlier in the show too.
The 21-year-old singer was named best male R&B artist and won best collaboration for his song Look At Me Now with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.
Brown accepted the collaboration award after performing a medley that including the winning track.
'Public-speaking is not my strong suit,' he said, thanking BET and his fans before passing the microphone to Wayne, who expressed gratitude to Brown for including him on the track. Busta Rhymes rapped his acceptance.
Earlier in the ceremony, Brown also thanked his fans and the network: 'I appreciate all the support. I know it's been a long road, so I appreciate every blessing in front of me.'
Brown was of course referring to a difficult couple of years after he admitted to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna on the eve of the Grammy Awards back in 2009.
Both Rihanna and Brown have been making contact recently on social networking site Twitter, prompting speculation about their relationship status.
It is unknown whether or not they caught up inside the party last night
It's been a while since "Single Ladies" ruled the world. And neither of the first two singles off this album - "Run the World (Girls)," "Best Thing I Never Had" - have commanded the sort of attention Britney Spears and Lady Gaga enjoyed when their first singles hit the streets from "Femme Fatale" and "Born This Way" respectively.
The bad news is, there's not much here that feels like it could put Beyoncé back on top, where she belongs. There's no "Crazy in Love," no "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" - although that's clearly what she's gunning for on "Run the World (Girls)" - and certainly no shameless bid to keep up with the Ke$has of the world.
It couldn't feel more out of step, in fact, with current trends in R&B or big dumb pop of the Ke$ha variety, as though she honestly bought into Jay-Z's "Death of Auto-Tune."
The good news is, it's timeless that way, overstuffed with soulful ballads. There's even a ballad called "Party" (which features guest appearances from Kanye West and André 3000 with harmonies silky enough to give some listeners flashbacks to the '70s).
In a pop scene that's hell-bent on keeping it frivolous, Beyoncé brings the drama, setting the tone with the slow-rolling gravity of "1 + 1," where she pleads for someone - we're assuming Jay-Z - to make love to her. Not for the sexual healing so much as the sexual therapy, whether the world is through, like it is in the opening verse, or just at war (see second verse).
There's more frivolity, in fact, on U2's latest record.
But Beyoncé sells that drama, investing her vocals with a sense that everything is hanging in the balance, whether the love of her life is still around to hear her plead, "Make love to me" or, in most cases, long gone, leaving her alone to pour her heart out in moments as wounded as "I'm crying and deserted, baby, but you don't care" (on "I Care," a song whose vocals venture into the Mariah zone) or "I thought that things like this get better with time/But I still need you/Why is that?" Even when she finds the inner strength to mock the fool who got away ("Best That I Never Had"), her heart sounds just as broken as she rubs his nose in it.
This is serious business, grown-up soul that may be best enjoyed by an audience old enough to understand why anyone would see the romance in a line as sad as "Nothing's perfect, but it's worth it."
TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- A spokesman for Lady Gaga has denied that the pop singer misrepresented charitable donations from the sale of wristbands intended for Japan's disaster relief, and called a lawsuit "misguided" for alleging this, according to reports Tuesday. "The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements," the spokesman was quoted as saying. A suit, which requests status as a class action, was filed last week by 1-800-Law-Firm firm partner Alyson Oliver in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, alleging the singer and her companies added excess shipping charges and retained a portion of the proceeds from each transaction instead of donating all proceeds to Japanese disaster relief
Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson were recently dissed by Transformers franchise star Shia LaBeouf. Almost everybody knows that by now. But what many people have forgotten or perhaps never knew is that the Teen Dream's lady-love, Selena Gomez, used to have a huge crush on the loose-lipped Mr. LaBeouf. And she was never shy about making her crush known to the world. "I don't have a perfect boy," she once gushed in an interview. "I guess they need to be honest and they need to be someone who I can really be myself around. Although, if they look identical to Shia LaBeouf that would be great!"
"If they look identical to Shia LaBeouf, that would be great?" Yuck. In her pre-Biebs days, Selena Gomez had either really bizarre taste in men or extremely bad eyesight.
Anyway, the inevitable question now is, what does Selena think about her old crush, Shia's lame remarks about her current love JB? In an interview in the Italian magazine,Un'Intervista, LaBeouf opined that "it's hard for stars like Justin Bieber not to develop a huge ego because of their level of fame."
"I would not want the worldwide popularity of Robert Pattinson or Justin Bieber," La Beouf lied--er--revealed. "Even if you don't reach those levels, it's hard not to feel at least a little almighty."
If, by now, Shia LeBeouf hasn't ascended to "those levels" of "worldwide popularity" already reached by Bieber and Pattinson, he can relax. It's doubtful that he'll ever have a future as a worldwide heart-throb. Even if he was, back in the day, a crush object for Justin Bieber's girlfriend, Selena Gomez.
And speaking of Selena Gomez, one word: awkward.
Wonder what Kristen Stewart thinks of Shia LeBeouf.
Rihanna is paying a price for wearing sky-high heels on stage. She stumbled and tripped again during a show in Edmonton, Canada. But ever the trouper, she kept right on singing as she picked herself up.
The 23-year-old singer was walking across the stage in stiletto boots and suddenly slammed down on her hands and knees in the middle of a song.
She paused for a moment, stood up on her knees and started singing again, without missing a word.
As she got up, she made a gesture to her back up dancers, suggesting an "Oh well," and continued with the tune.
She was wearing extra-short shorts and a scarf top, but everything managed to stay in place.
She's had similar mishaps at a concert in London, so by now she's a pro at the stumble-and-recover move. Maybe she'll work it into her act.
As female stars opt for more and more outlandish costumes on tour, especially shoes with five-inch heels and sometimes, three-inch platforms, the accidents are mounting up.
Lady Gaga is famous for taking on-stage tumbles because of her over-the-top footwear.
In any event, Rihanna has more to worry about on her Loud Tour.
Cee Lo Green, who had been opening for her, suddenly dropped out of the tour after drawing criticism for his performance.
His rep cited work overload for the decision.
"He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to "The Voice," on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn't give his fans the show that they deserve," the rep told The New York Times.
Akon's year in music may seem like it's off to a slow start, but expect the Senegalese-American artist's name to be back to music-industry ubiquity shortly.
MTV News recently caught up with the singer/producer/executive on the set of Nick Cannon's video for "Famous," where Akon told us linking up with the actor/rapper (who's expecting twins with wife Mariah Carey) was opportune.
"I listened to ['Famous'] and I actually liked it," Akon said. "He does a lot of family-friendly stuff and I'm trying to go into that realm right now. I want to do a lot more family-friendly stuff, and Nick is the best at that. I feel like this was a collaboration way overdue."
On the set, Akon was friendly as always but didn't divulge any new details about his upcoming album, Stadium, which he hopes to release in September. Last year, the "Sexy Chick" singer revealed to MTV News that producer David Guetta had contributed to the project. For now, Akon plans to go on mini-tours and release new music just to whet the appetites of his fans. But he still isn't sure which song he'll drop first.
"I don't know what to release first," he said. "I'm so excited about the project itself, I'm like, 'OK, which record do I want to put out first?' I haven't quite decided but by the end of April I'll know exactly what I'mma do with the record."
'Kon was more assured in his reverence for Dr. Dre. Last year's "Kush," the official lead single from Dre's long-awaited Detox album, featured a vocal from Akon. "Dre is one of those guys ... he's a perfectionist in his own [right]," Akon said.
"You feel confident working with him because he's not going to let nothing go undone. In a way, that's great. But sometimes you're anxious too, like, 'Man I can't wait to let everybody hear this.' Ultimately, working with Dre was just amazing. Dre is very picky about who he decides to work with too. For him to call me and do [multiple] tracks on the record and be involved in more than one record on that album, it said a lot. It shows how much he really appreciated what I'm doing."
With Valentine's Day a little more than a month away, the list of celebrity splits keeps on growing.
In a post on her blog, Shakira announced on Monday that she and her boyfriend of nearly 11 years, Antonio de la Rúa, are taking a break. While rumors of wedding bells have emerged about the couple in the past, the singer confirmed they have been separated since last August but chose to keep the news under wraps.
"We made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship," Shakira wrote in her post. "Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now."
The announcement comes fresh on the heels of other long-term celebrity couples calling it quits, including Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who separated last year after 11 years of marriage, and Mila Kunis and Macaulay Culkin, who ended their nine-year relationship earlier this month.
Shakira added that she and de la Rúa, who is a lawyer and the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rúa, "view this period of separation as temporary," explaining that they would continue to work together.
"Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done," she said. "We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication."
The singer also noted that the two are an "exceptional couple and partners," and stressed that the separation was amicable. "Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible," she said.
Beyonce Knowles closed the Glastonbury festival last night (26.06.11) with a hit-laden set incorporating a number of covers and material from her former group Destiny's Child.
Beyonce Knowles felt like a "rock star" as she closed the Glastonbury festival last night (26.06.11).
The 'If I Were A Boy' singer stunned revellers by playing a number of covers during her energetic set at the world-famous music event in Somerset, South West England, as well as a collection of songs by her girl group Destiny's Child.
As she began her performance on the Pyramid stage, Beyonce told the 170,000-strong crowd: "I want you to know right now you are witnessing my dream.
"I always wanted to be a rock star and tonight we are all rock stars."
Beyonce - the first female solo headliner at the event in 25 years - sang Prince's 'The BeautifulOnes', Kings of Leon's 'Sex on Fire' and a rendition of the Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams', as well as a Destiny's Child medley, but her former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams did not appear alongside her as had been rumoured.
The singer wore a low-cut gold sequinned jacket and black hotpants throughout her 90-minute set, which saw rapper husband Jay-Z and friend Gwyneth Paltrow looking on from the VIP area.
She opened with 'Crazy in Love' and wowed the crowds with 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), as wellas latest single 'Run The World (Girls)' before closing the festival with 'Halo'.
Beyonce spent most of the weekend at the festival with her husband, and revealed before her performance she had sought advice from her fellow headliners Coldplay and U2.
She told the BBC: "I'm the biggest fan of U2 and I'm the biggest fan of Coldplay, they are genius, so I've spoken to both of them about my setlist. I'm so excited to share the stage with them.
"For Glastonbury to recognise that women have the power to headline, that's amazing, and I'm proud that I am the chosen woman. I am going to rock!"
